Of gods and men Trailer Thursday / Batalla de dioses en el cine

A mortal defies a god in the fantasy movie Gods of Egypt, starring Gerard Butler, Brenton Thwaites, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. Mortal hero Bek teams with the god Horus in an alliance against Set, the merciless god of darkness who has usurped Egypt's throne, plunging the once peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict. Gods of Egypt is rated PG-13 with a running time of  2 hours 7 minutes, and is directed by Alex Proyas one of my favorite directors, and although this doesn’t seem like his usual type of movie it will definitely have impressive imagery.

For a movie of inspiration but not so much triumph there’s the biographical comedy drama Eddie the Eagle (Eddie el Águila), starring Taron Egerton, Hugh Jackman, and Christopher Walken. Inspired by true events, Eddie the Eagle is a feel-good story about Michael "Eddie" Edwards (Taron Egerton), an unlikely but courageous British ski-jumper who never stopped believing in himself - even as an entire nation was counting him out. Eddie the Eagle is rated PG-13 with a running time of 1 hour 45 minutes.

The crime thriller Triple 9 is also premiering this weekend, the film stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Casey Affleck, Anthony Mackie, and Kate Winslet. A gang of criminals and corrupt cops plan the murder of a police officer in order to pull off their biggest heist yet across town. Triple 9 is rated R with a running time of 1 hour 55 minutes.
