Apart from the cuteness of Agnes in the movie Despicable Me, the creatures to really steal the show were the short yellow henchmen working for Gru called Minions. Well now they get to shine in the spotlight with their own animated movie, named what else but Minions, the film features the voices of Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm, and Geoffrey Rush. Minions Stuart, Kevin and Bob are recruited by Scarlet Overkill, a super-villain who, alongside her inventor husband Herb, hatches a plot to take over the world. Minions is rated PG with a running time of 91 minutes.

For something completely different and for more mature audiences there is the horror thriller The Gallows, starring Reese Mishler, Pfeifer Brown, and Ryan Shoos. 20 years after a horrific accident during a small town school play, students at the school resurrect the failed show in a misguided attempt to honor the anniversary of the tragedy - but soon discover that some things are better left alone. The Gallows is rated R with a running time of 81 minutes.

Also new in movie theaters this Friday is the sci-fi mystery thriller Self/less starring Ryan Reynolds, Natalie Martinez, and Matthew Goode. An extremely wealthy man, dying from cancer, undergoes a radical medical procedure that transfers his consciousness into the body of a healthy young man. But all is not as it seems when he starts to uncover the mystery of the body's origin and the organization that will kill to protect its cause. Self/less is rated PG-13 with a running time of 116 minutes.
